Team-Building Activities That Go Beyond the Meeting Room

Team-building is a buzzword uttered at every corporate event and group retreat, but how do you plan experiences that actually bring people together?

Today’s workforce is looking for more than traditional icebreakers and trust falls. The most meaningful team moments are happening outside of the meeting room, with shared experiences that inspire collaboration, spark creativity, and bring colleagues together in unexpected ways.

“Attendees want to walk away feeling like they’ve done something that wasn’t just for work – that they’ve come away with the story of being here. ‘I’ve tried this’. We did this. We felt like this. I want to go back,” says Emma Bason, the Director of Global Venue Sourcing for Amex GBT Meetings & Events.

From alpine adventures to cosmic readings, here are six unique team-building activities that go beyond the meeting room.

1. Immersive Flight Simulations

Hotel Polaris, CO

Elevate your next event with private flight simulations where your team becomes the crew. At Hotel Polaris in Colorado Springs, you can experience the thrill of piloting an F-16 fighter jet or Boeing 737 MAX, complete with fully functional cockpit controls. Featuring signature team-building challenges and special group packages, it's an experience they'll remember long after landing.
